Perched on the cusp of Edmonton’s scenic river valley, Capilano is home to 2,770 residents, who enjoy unparalleled access to the city’s parks and trails for walking, biking, picnicking, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. The community is bounded on the north by the North Saskatchewan River Valley, on the east by the Gold Bar Ravine, on the south by 106 Avenue and on the west by Wayne Gretzky Drive (formerly Capilano Drive).
Last fall, the City of Edmonton closed our great “tube slide down the hill” as it developed a large crack on the underside of the tube, posing major safety risks to children. The slide has now been assessed by the City and due to the fact that this slide no longer meets current safety standards and the Capilano Community has undertaken a redevelopment project to replace our aging playground, it will remain closed permanently.
