PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

A message from the new community league president has been long overdue.  It has been quite a ride since I first volunteered for the Capilano executive position of secretary in 2002.  I stepped in to fill a vacancy and quickly realized the need to do even more.  During those years I learned a lot about the operations of the league and gained the confidence to step into the role of president. 

A huge thank you goes to Gregg Meropoulis, now officially the past president of Capilano.  Gregg remained as president to see the changing of the guard and a renewed enthusiasm in Capilano.  While many people came and went from various executive positions, he stayed active and helped me prepare to take over.  Thanks Gregg!

Virtually the entire executive has changed in the past three years and I am proud to say that the league is in good hands.  We have many dedicated people who give unselfishly.  It is much easier to get involved in a successful organization and I have no doubts that we will continue to thrive.  Having said that, we are always looking for help and ways to improve or expand our services.  If you see a need or have ideas, you can make a difference. 

It is true that you never know what you are getting yourself into when you volunteer your services.  I can honestly tell you it has all been good!  Whether it has been hall operations and maintenance, communications, bingo, the web site, ice rink, or just answering questions, the rewards are plenty. 

I wish to thank the executive and members at large for past support and look forward to successful future relationships.
