December 18 - It's students vs. staff at Donnan School's annual hockey challenge
Students in the hockey program at Donnan School have challenged school staff to a hockey game at the Donnan Arena (9105 - 80 Avenue) on Friday, December 19 at 1 p.m. Read more.

December 17 - The Honourable Rob Merrifield helps connect students to Santa
On Thursday, December 18 at 10 a.m., Grade 1 students at McLeod School will receive some special treatment as they write their letters to Santa Claus. Read more.

December 16 - Donnan School spreads the Christmas spirit to the community
Beginning at 8:35 a.m. on Wednesday, December 17, students and staff at Donnan School will create Christmas cards, which they will distribute throughout the community. Read more.

December 16 - Laurier School students fill principal's office for the Food Bank
On Wednesday, December 17 at 9 a.m., the Edmonton Food Bank will be at Laurier Heights School to collect food donated by students. Students from Kindergarten to Grade 9 have been collecting food since November 24 with the goal of filling their principal's office. Read more.

December 12 - Backpacks of Luck
On December 15 and 16, students, staff and parents at George H. Luck School will be filling 425 Backpacks of Luck for the homeless in Edmonton. Read more.

December 10 - Emmy award-winning speaker to visit J. Percy Page School
On Thursday, December 11, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30, Emmy award-winning speaker Mark Scharenbroich will speak to J. Percy Page students about the secrets to making the most of their high school years. Read more.

December 10 - Riverbend and J.Percy Page Schools Featured in the Des Moines Register
A series by the Des Moines Register on world-class schools features Riverbend and J. Percy Page schools. Des Moines Register reporter Linda Fandel and videographer Mary Chind visited the schools at the end of October and interviewed the principals, teachers, students and parents. December 9 - Prince Charles School students shop for books in time for Christmas
On Wednesday, December 10 from 9 to 10 a.m., 25 Grade 5 students from Prince Charles School will visit the Coles Bookstore in Kingsway Garden Mall (109 Street and Princess Elizabeth Avenue) to choose books for the school's Home Reading Program. Read more.

December 3 - Malmo School students rap about the solar system
On Thursday, December 4, at 7 p.m., Grade 6 students at Malmo School will bring their sky science unit to life by rapping about the seasons and performing skits about moon phases, sun-viewing safety, and day and night. Read more.

December 1 - The Edmonton Oilers Share-a-Book with Parkdale School students
On Tuesday, December 2, from 1:30 p.m. to 2, students from Parkdale School will be visited by a member of the Edmonton Oilers. Read more.

November 27 - Garneau School student donates $10,000 to Ryan's Well Foundation
On Friday, November 28 at 1 p.m., Finn Case, a Grade 2 student at Garneau School, will present a cheque for $10,000 to Ryan Hreljac, founder of Ryan's Well Foundation. Read more.

November 27 - Students present quilt to the Stollery Children's Hospital Foundation
On Friday, November 28, at 10:30 a.m., Grade 2 students from Madame Haddad's French Immersion Class, will present two quilts to a representative from the Stollery Children's Hospital Foundation. Read more.

November 27 - Board of Trustees releases 2008 Report to the Community
The Board shared the report last night at an event recognizing the invaluable contributions of its community partners. Read more.

November 26 - George P. Nicholson School student cuts her hair for Wigs for Kids
On Thursday, November 27 at 12:30 p.m., Sadie Carfagno, a Grade 2 student at George P. Nicholson School, will have her hair cut for Wigs for Kids. Read more.

November 24 - Building resilient kids at home and in school
On Monday, November 24, over 400 teachers and 200 parents will participate in separate sessions lead by Gordon Neufeld, a Vancouver-based clinical psychologist. Read more.

November 21 - Senator Grant Mitchell to visit Oliver School
On Friday, November 21, at 1 p.m., Grant Mitchell, Liberal Senator and former Liberal party leader, will speak to students in Grades 6 to 9. Read more.

November 12 - Ireland welcomes hockey HEROS
Abbott School principal, Brad Mamchur, was one of four people associated with the Hockey Education Reaching Out Society (HEROS) program who took to the ice in Ireland this past summer. Read more.

November 10 - District engages community in new Skill Centre
On November 12, business and post-secondary representatives met with District staff to determine the future direction of The Skill Centre. Read more.

November 10 - Paul Martin Visits Amiskwaciy Academy
Former Prime Minister Paul Martin visited Amiskwaciy Academy on November 4 to tour the school. Read more.

November 6 - Construction Updates - Lillian Osborne and Victoria School of Performing and Visual Arts
A group of central staff from a variety of departments such as Facilities, Planning, Purchasing and Communications, recently toured the new Lillian Osborne School site. Read more.

November 6 - Queen Elizabeth School hosts National Virtual Remembrance Day Ceremony
On Friday, November 7, from 10:30 to 11:20 a.m., Queen Elizabeth School will host a trans-Canada Remembrance Day Ceremony with Canadian troops in Afghanistan via live video-conference. Read more.

November 4 - Queen Elizabeth School hosts Video Conference for Hope: Guatemala
