Capilano Playground Equipment

The Capilano playground is 11 years old, with the average life span of a playground about 15 years.  Generally the equipment is in good condition and it is inspected on a regular basis by the City of Edmonton Parks Operation staff.  However, concern has been raised about the safety of certain equipment in the Capilano Playground including the diggers and hollow teeter- totter.  While they were within safety guidelines when installed, they are currently below standard.

The Capilano Community League executive has discussed options for these pieces of equipment and replacements at recent meetings and will reserve a portion of the Annual General Meeting to welcome feedback from stakeholders.
The AGM is on Wed May 17th 7:30 pm at the Capilano Community hall.  For more information contact Bill 469.5744
Capilano Cleanup
Hi Capilano Friends,

Mayor Mandel began a clean up program downtown last year that went so well he is now expanding it to the communities around town.  See  www.edmonton.ca/capitalcitycleanup for more information.

I have volunteered to be a Capital City Clean-Up Captain for our area.  It is my responsibility to round up volunteers every few weeks to help keep our neighborhood clean by picking up garbage in the Capilano playground, school yard (fence line) and community hall areas.

The first clean up will happen this Sunday at 1:00 p.m. (if it is raining, I will re-schedule)  Please meet in the playground.  Gloves and garbage bags will be provided.  Please bring your children; involving them in the clean up is one of the best ways to teach them to be proud of a litter-free neighborhood and take ownership of their community.

If you plan to be there, I would love a quick reply to this email so that I may provide enough supplies.  If you do not get back to me, but still want to participate, by all means, just show up!  Please pass the word on to your neighbors; the more involvement from everyone, the greater the message

Jackie Martin
