Dear Capilano Neighbour

Re:                Suzuki Charter School Society & Parking/Traffic Plan

You may be aware that the Suzuki Charter School Society has signed an agreement with Edmonton Public Schools to lease Capilano School to operate its program.  We are most excited that we have been given this opportunity to relocate our program in a larger facility with more amenities for our students. We are proud to be a part of the Capilano Community and it is our intention to be a responsible and conscientious neighbour.

The Suzuki Charter School is a publicly-funded school operated by a Society with an elected Board of Directors.  Its mandate is to offer a rich music program by integrating the Suzuki approach in its academic program.  We offer a Kindergarten through Grade Six program as well as a pre-school program.  At the current time, we have 277 students registered in our K-6 program and 33 students in our pre-school program.  As we draw students from various sectors both within and outside of the city, we do not provide transportation to the school.  Parents who do not live within walking distance of the school must drive their children to the school.  Parents who drive their children to school comprise the largest portion of our population.  Therefore, it is our goal to put in place a traffic/parking plan which will be respectful of the residents who live in this community, especially those who reside across the street from the school and its surrounding grounds.
