Capilano Community Park Redevelopment – Construction to Start July 2014!

Capilano Community Park Redevelopment – Construction to Start July 2014!

2014 construction of Phase 1 is to start the beginning of July and be completed by the fall.  We are working with City officials to determine the detailed timelines.

The Rotating Dish is one of the exciting new playground pieces to be installed at Capilano Community Park’s redeveloped playground this coming summer!

The PHASE 1 PROJECT includes:

–An amazing new playground, with equipment for both pre-school and elementary students

–Spray deck and water table

–Picnic shelter, tables and benches

The most recent cost estimate for the total park redevelopment project is $890k.  PHASE 1 COSTS are estimated at $690k.  Substantive funds for Phase 1 were raised via grants from both the City and the Province.  These grants would not have been awarded to the project, without major financial commitments from both Capilano Community League and Suzuki Charter School.  The Community League committed $125k to the project and the Suzuki School Board approved a total donation to the project of $60k.  Thank you to both the Capilano Community League Board and the Suzuki School Board for their incredible support of this project.

FUNDRAISING efforts in support of PHASE 2 (walking and bike paths, outdoor exercise equipment) of the Capilano Community Park redevelopment project continue.  You can contribute to this project through a personal or business donation.  All donations over $20 will receive a tax receipt.
