Capilano Community Park Redevelopment – Construction to Start in 2014!

The Capilano Community Park Redevelopment Committee is pleased to announce that construction for Phase 1 of the Capilano Community Park redevelopment project is scheduled for 2014.  2014 construction is to start in the spring/summer and be completed by the fall.  The committee is now working with City officials to determine the construction timelines, and will keep you updated as the details are sorted out.

The PHASE 1 PROJECT includes:

  • An amazing new playground, with equipment for both pre-school and elementary school students
  • Spray deck and water table
  • Picnic shelter, tables and benches

The most recent cost estimate for the total park redevelopment project is $890k.  PHASE 1 COSTS are estimated at $690k.  Substantive funds for Phase 1 were raised via grants from both the City and the Province.  These grants would not have been awarded to the project, without major financial commitments from both Capilano Community League and Suzuki Charter School.  The Community League committed $125k to the project and recently, the Suzuki School Board approved a total donation to the project of $60k.  Thank you to both the Capilano Community League Board and the Suzuki School Board for their incredible support of this project.

FUNDRAISING efforts in support of PHASE 2 (walking and bike paths, outdoor exercise equipment) of the Capilano Community Park redevelopment project continue.  You can contribute to this project through a personal or business donation.  All donations over $20 will receive a tax receipt.  Be a Park Supporter!
