Capilano Community League

Perched on the cusp of Edmonton’s scenic river valley, Capilano is home to 2,770 residents, who enjoy unparalleled access to the city’s parks and trails for walking, biking, picnicking, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. The community is bounded on the north by the North Saskatchewan River Valley, on the east by the Gold Bar Ravine, on the south by 106 Avenue and on the west by Wayne Gretzky Drive (formerly Capilano Drive).

According to the 2009 municipal census, 100 per cent of the residences are single-detached homes, and nearly one in five residents is aged 65 or older, giving Capilano one of the largest senior populations in Edmonton.

Capilano boasts two elementary schools—St. Gabriel School, operated by Edmonton Catholic Schools, and Suzuki Charter School, operated by the Suzuki Charter School Society. A shopping mall, located at 106 Avenue and 50 Street, includes a grocery store, a hair salon, a drycleaner, a maternity store, a natural health centre and a coffee house. Capilano is also home to a child care centre, a church, tennis courts, a skating rink and a vibrant community league.
